When a member sustains a burn while on duty, NO MATTER HOW MINOR, an ALS resource shall medically evaluate that member.

Immediate verbal notification to the Medical Liaison Unit (MLU) shall be completed as soon as time permits.

A request for the appropriate EMS Battalion Captain to respond shall be made through Metropolitan Fire Communications(MFC).

However, when a member’s burns do not meet base stat ion contact criteria, the member shall be taken directly to one the following facilities:

• Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital
• Torrance Memorial Hospital Burn Center
• LAC/USC Burn Center
