Predicate Nouns
nouns that follow linking verbs. These serve to rename or re-identify the subject. 11
Common Nouns
nouns that identify general people, places, or things - they name or identify that which is common among others 11
Proper Nouns
use to identify an absolute unique person, place, or thing and they are signified by capital letters no matter where they appear in a sentence 12
Nouns of Address
used in direct speech to identify the person or group being directly spoken to or to get someone’s attention 12
Concrete Nouns
name people, place, animals, or things that are physically tangible (proper nouns are also usually concrete) 12
Abstract Nouns
name intangible things like concepts, ideas, feelings, characteristics, attributes etc 12
Countable / Count nouns
nouns that can be considered as individual, separable items that we can count. Also used with the indefinite article a and an 12

Non-count Nouns
nouns that can not be separated and counted as individual units or elements. No a/an indefinite article. Not make plural. ex - tea, information, equipment etc
Collective Nouns
nouns that refer to a collection or group of multiple people, animals, or things. Functino as a singular noun because refer to the group as a whole. ex - flock, organization, set

Noun Adjuncts
Nouns that modify other nouns or a compound noun ex - toy soldier 13
Compound Noun
a noun composed of two or more words working together as a single unit to name a person, place, or thing ex - water bottle, backpack 13
Noun Phrase
is a group of two or more words that function together as a noun in a sentence 13
Nominalization /
Creating Nouns
refers to the creation of a noun form from verbs or adjectives 13 ex act > actor, accep > acceptance, difficulty (adj) > difficulty (noun) 13
