A
  • If no God, nothing non-material; no heaven after death
  • Different religions have different ideas; i.e. Sikh=reincarnate, Islam=hell/heaven

  • Nowhere for life after death; space exploration shows no heaven; physics shows no non-material world on Earth
  • Can only recognise people through body; if LAD, no way to contact other souls so not really LAD
  • Brought up not to believe; parents not religious or experience of loved ones death

A
  • Wrong; based on scripture, Apostolic Tradition+Magisterium

  • Church uses evidence that women who have abortions can suffer traumas leading to guilt/mental illnesses
  • Every person has a natural right to life, abortion destroys this
  • Adoption is a better solution to unwanted pregnancy as preserves life+bring joy to new family
  • Use doctrine of double effect: chemo is ok as killing foetus is secondary+not intended so no abortion occurred

17
Q

3.2.10. What are the three ways a country’s wealth can be categorised.

A

MEDC - more economically developed countries/First World
EDC - economically developing countries/Second World
LEDC - less economically developed country/Third World

18
Q

3.2.10. Explain the causes of world poverty.

A
  • Natural disasters: destroy houses/farmlands on which people depend; can’t afford wells
  • Debt: interest>earnings from foreign currency; can’t pay back
  • Wars: civil+between countries; destroy crops, homes, schools, hospitals; refugees safer in other countries, sudden influx difficult for EDC
  • Unfair trade: LEDCs sell surplus to MEDCs; MEDCs protect their famers; sell surplus to LEDCs cheaper than they can produce; poor starve as land for crops not food+price is low as lots of countries produce them
  • HIV/AIDS: earners die+children cannot get educated
  • Other: lack of education, clean water (so die younger), rely on one export
19

  • Golden Rule: treat others as you want to be treated
