What does BIOS use to hold the boot information?
(Master Boot Record) MBR
What does UEFI use to hold the boot information?
GUI Partition Table (GPT)
BIOS/UEFI can be protected with passwords
Supervisor/Administrator/Setup Password
Used to protect access to the BIOS or UEFI configuration program and prevents access from unauthorized users
User/System Password
Used to lock access to the entire computer (different password from Windows log in)
Storage/Hard drive password
Locks access to a hard drive connected to the system and requires the end user’s password
Secure Boot
Enables in the UEFI interface settings. Not supported by BIOS. Secure Boot is a procedure used to ensure that our OS can be trusted and has not fallen victim to a rootkit.
