When he couldn’t be hides safety any longer, she placed him in a basket and left him among the reeds along the Nile (his sister watched). Soon the Pharaoh’s daughter came down to the river and founded him. She knew he was Hebrew and felt sorry for him. She allowed an Israelite woman (his real mother) to nurse him and when he no longer needed to be nursed she adopted him and names him Moses. He was brought up as a prince at Pharaoh’s court. What did God say to Moses?
“I have listened to my people, who are suffering greatly in Egypt. I have heard their cries. I will rescue them and lead them into a land flowing with milk and honey. I will send you to Pharaoh to lead my people out of Egypt.”

What did God do to the Pharaoh?
God sent Ten Plagues - at God’s command Moses went back to the Pharaoh and warned him. If you refuse to let my people worship me in the desert, I will strike the water of the river and change it to blood. All the fish will die and the water will be unfit to drink.

Each family sprinkled the blood of a sacrificial lamb on the doorpost of their house. Then the families prepared and ate roasted lamb with unleavened bread and butter herbs. They ate with their sandals on their feet and their staffs in their hands, ready for flight. They stayed indoors as instructed.
After midnight, loud wailing was heard from the houses of the Egyptians. All the firstborn sons, even the Pharaoh’s, had died. But the houses of the Israelites were passed over and spared.
After all the firstborn Egyptian sons died, what did the Pharaoh do?
He sent for Moses and Aaron. Told them to leave at once.
So what did God do to lead his people from Egypt?
By day a column of cloud guided them on their journey and by night a column of fire.
Some days after the Israelites left, the Pharaoh changed his mind about letting them go so he ordered his soldiers to capture them. Explain what happened.
The Israelites reached the Red Sea and they could see the Egyptian soldiers coming. They were afraid. Moses raised his staff as directed by God. A column of cloud came between the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Night passed without the army coming closer. A strong wind blew all night and made a dry path through the water. The Israelites safely crossed. But when the Egyptians tried to follow, the Lord clogged the wheels of their chariots. Moses again stretched out his hand over the sea and the Egyptians in their chariots were drowned.
