A

too little cortisol (chronic)—often insufficient aldosterone as well

Treatment—corticol supplements: cortisones (hydro-) or prednisone

• Treatment-
Ketoconazole- inhibits adrenal steroid synthesis
Metyrapone-reduces cortisol synthesis
Mifepristone- steroid receptor antagonist

Paget’s disease of bone

A
  • Osteoclast and osteoblast regulation disrupted leading to malformed bones-large, dense and brittle
  • Treatment: alendronate
