Flashcards in Air Departures Deck (27)
When can you issue a conditional clearance?
When there is only one landing or departing aircraft affecting the crossing or entering traffic.
All traffic is visible from the VCR.
What are the restrictions with an A-SMGCS conditional line up clearance?
Normal Vis and VIS 2 only:
1.) RVR >600m and entry points up until A4, NB3, NB8 and A13.
2.) A-SMGCS configured appropriately
3.) Departure v Departure only
4.) Line up clearances only
5.) No multiple line ups
If the MDS fails (primary only) then this procedure cannot be used.
Minimum noise routings apply to all aircraft except?
Propeller driven aircraft whose MTWA does not exceed 5,700kg
Between 0600-2330hrs local, propeller driven aircraft who's MTWA does not exceed 17,00kg
When can you deviate from an MNR?
1.) Aircraft in an emergency or on safety grounds
2.) Police, Emergency helicopter flights or other flights CAT E and above
3.) When a nav aid associated with an MNR is U/S
4.) To provide separation for any calibration flight
5.) On easterlies to provide separation from H9 traffic either overflying or landing at Heathrow
6.) Weather avoiding
What do you do if an aircraft cannot make the minimum climb out gradient
Co-ordinate with TC SVFR and the relevant TC outbound sector
When has a vehicle or aircraft fully vacated the runway?
An aircraft or vehicle is considered runway vacated when every part of it is at least 77.5m from the runway centre line
What anticipation can you use when issuing a take off or landing clearance v another lander?
When the lander has cleared the runway white lines (25m from the centre line) and is in motion and can be expected to be at least 77.5m from the centre line by the time the departure starts to roll or lander reaches the threshold
What are the restrictions when departing behind an A340?
If 2 minutes or more is specified, the full time separation must be applied. Separation must be assured before transferring to TC and any levels or headings given must be co-ordinated with TC
What is the separation between a DET followed by a MAY, or MAY v MAY on Westerlies?
What is the separation between DET v DET on Westerlies?
3 minutes - at 2100 local the VCR Supervisor should contact the GS A to cancel the 3 minute MDI. Then they are to update the log, inform HOEC, update CDM HMI and create an INFO FDE
What is the separation between DET v DET on Easterlies?
Between 0700-0800 local - 3 minutes
All other times 2 minutes
What is the separation between a MAY followed by a MID or GASGU on Easterlies?
What is the separation between a GASGU followed by a MID or CPT standard heading on Easterlies?
What would you do if a departure suffers a transponder failure?
Contact the outbound TC sector and if they are not available instruct the aircraft:
'(Callsign) report that you have a transponder failure to London Control on (frequency)'
On Easterlies following a runway alternation from 09R to 09L, what new clearance would you give an aircraft on a CPT departure?
Only inform the pilot of the revised runway for departure, clearance remains the same
What Easterly departures are subject SVFR and what notice should you give?
All A340-2/300 & A380 CPT departures are subject SVFR and you should give at least 5 minutes notice
What are the restrictions for a vehicle or aircraft entering the 27L Glide path critical area when the ILS is switched on?
No aircraft or vehicle are permitted to enter when an aircraft is:
1.) Carrying out a full ILS approach
2.) Seen to be established on the extended centreline
3.) 20nm or less from touchdown
However, a vehicle may be cleared to transit through provided that:
1.) 3m or less in height
2.) Any aircraft carrying out an ILS approach is >4nm out
3.) LVP's not in force
What would you do if the 27L glide path critical area is infringed with an inbound not yet established on the ILS?
Phone INT on PTY line, inform them & how long it'll be infringed for.
Confirmation of the availability of the glide path ASAP
What would you do if the 27L glide path critical area is infringed with an inbound established on the ILS?
Phone INT and agree a course of action.
Before weather avoiding begins who do you need to co-ordinate with?
TC SVFR - to determine the presence of any conflicting low level traffic and the status of Northolt's delegated airspace
If WX avoiding begins and TC SVFR inform you that Northolt have their own airspace, what should you do?
Ensure EGWU line is selected on VCCS.
Place a Check North FDE into the runway bay.
Air departures will co-ordinate with Northolt if any northbound requires to go further north of their track
What should you do when WX avoiding stops?
Inform TC SVFR, relevant outbound sectors and the VCR supervisor.
What is the affect on Easterlies when EGLC have a calibration flight for Runway 09?
Free-Flow suspended for BPK, ULTIB or DET as appropriate.
What is the affect on Westerlies when EGLC have a calibration flight for Runway 09?
A gap is needed on the approach or inbounds kept high on the approach
What are the Westerly restrictions during the calibration of EGLF's Runway 24?
All serials affect southbound departures.
27L must not be used for landing.
Farnborough Check FDE.
CPT, GOGSI, MID - RWY HD/6000ft
DET - RS TC SW, RWY HD/6000ft
Once approved Air Deps must inform TC SW that Southbounds will be departing in accordance to the above.
Once complete Air Deps will require a release for the first standard southbound departure with TC SW.
What are the Easterly restrictions during the calibration of EGLF's Runway 24?
Farnborough Check FDE.
DET - Freeflow, LON DME 2, Right heading 115/6000ft
CPT - RS INT S, LON DME 2, Right heading 115/6000ft
Once approved Air Deps must inform TC SE and INT S that Southbounds will be departing in accordance to the above.
Once complete Air Deps will require a release for the first standard southbound departure with TC SE/INT S
