Flashcards in Anterior, Medial, posterior Thigh and gluet X Deck (15):
1

Specialization of Deep Fascia

Saphenous Opening - Great saphenous vein comes out under inguinal ligament (next to femoral vein)
Tensor Facia late / Illiotibial tract - extension of leg at knee
Intermuscular septa thigh - compartmentalization
Intermuscular septa leg - compartmentalization
Retinacula - Extensor and Flexor
Plantar Aponeurosis - supports longitudinal arch

2

Venous Drainage Lower Limb

Great and small saphenous vein
to
Popliteal vein + deep (Varied)
to
Femoral vein

3

Lymphactic drainage

superficial inguinal nodes (glueats, abs, perineum)
deep inguinal nodes (structure of femoral vein)
Popliteal nodes (leg and foot)

4

Four Routes out of Pelvis

Obturator Canal
Gap btwn inguinal ligament and pelvic bone
Foramen

5

Boundaries Femoral Triangle + contents

Base - inguinal ligament

6

Boundaries Adductor Canal + contents

Anteriorly - sartorius.
Postermedially - adductor longus and adductor magnus.
Laterally - vastus medialis.
(Apex of femoral triangle to adductor hiatus)
Contains Femoral vein, artery and parts of nerve specifically saphenous nerve

7

Adductor Hiatus + Structures

Adductor Magnus heads

8

PattelloFemoral Syndrome

Runner knee
caused by weakness and or tightness around knee or malalignment of patella

9

Trochanteric Bursutis

Bursa on top of greater trochanter becomes inflamed
can occur b/c leg length discrepancy
lateral hip pain
(v groin pain in hip arthritis)

10

Venous Stasis

Pooling of blood in lower limb - blood clot

11

Greater Sciatic Foreamen - contents

Superior gluteal vein, artery and nerve
Piriformis
Sciatic nerve
INferioir gluteal vein artery and nerve
Posterior femoral cutaneous nerve

12

Lesser sciatic foramen - contents

tendon to obturator internus mm

13

Bakers Cyst

cysts at back of knee filled with synovial fluid

14

Popliteal Fossa

Superior
--semimembranous and semitendenous - medial
--biceps femoris lateral
Inferior
--Medial head Gastrocnemius
--lateral lateral head gastrocnemius and plantaris

LOOK AT A PIC

15

Trendelenberg sign

weak hip abductors - if pt asked to stand on affected leg, hip will sag
