16
Q

17
Q

What structures are included in the femoral sheath?

A

Femoral artery
Femoral vein
Lymph nodes

18
Q

What structures are inside the femoral canal?

A

Lymphatic system/lymph nodes

19
Q

What are the areas of the superior, anterior thigh called from largest to smallest?

A

Femoral triangle -> femoral sheath -> femoral canal

20
Q

What is the femoral ring?

A

The opening of the femoral canal

21
Q

Which 2 structures form the borders of the femoral canal?

A

Lacuna ligament

Pectineal ligament

22
Q

Where can we feel the femoral pulse?

A

Half way between the ASIS and the pubic symphysis

23
Q

Describe a femoral hernia

A

Bowel herniates through into the femoral canal

May get compressed against the lacuna ligament and form a strangulated hernia

24
Q

What is a fascia iliaca block?

A

Injection of anaesthetic into space to bathe the femoral nerve and the lateral cutaneous nerve of the thigh
Helps with pain control after a fracture to the femur neck

25
Where is the iliopsoas bursa?
Deep to the iliopsoas
26
Where does the iliopsoas insert?
Lesser trochanter of femur
27
What is the action of iliopsoas?
Flexes hip | Lateral rotation at hip
28
What is the nerve supply to iliopsoas?
Psoas major = L1-L3 anterior rami | Iliacus = femoral nerve
29
What is the origin of rectus femoris?
Ilium
30
What is the insertion of rectus femoris?
Patella
31
What is the action of rectus femoris?
Flexes hip | Extends knee
32
What is the innervation of rectus femoris?
Femoral nerve
33
What are the borders of the femoral canal?
``` Anterior = inguinal ligament Medial = lacuna ligament Posterior = pectineal ligament Lateral = femoral vein ```
