What is an asphalt roof flat roof?
A
- A roof covering consisting of asphaltic cement and aggregates.

What defects might occur on a flat asphalt roof?
A
- Blistering whereby trapped moisture under the asphalt vaporise, forms a blister which can then rupture causing water ingress.
- Surface crazing and deeper cracking caused by asphalt becoming brittle through thermal stress.
- Cracking around junctions with other roof components caused by differential thermal movement.
- Cracking caused by movement within the structural deck.
- Mechanical damage caused by repeated foot traffic.
