Q

What do you usually do before a flight?

A

Well, speaking broadly, I usually do before a flight,
Firstly - when I arrive at the airport I gather all the flight documents necessary after that I analyze the weather forecasting on my flight path, check the NOTAMS, and prepare my flight planning.
Secondly - I go to the airplane to undergo a preflight inspection in addition to setting the W&B and calculating the V1 V2 Vr on the FMS.
Then I wait for my passengers.

Q

What are your obligation during cruise?

A

Well, as far as know the pilots have (the pilot has) many different responsibilities during the cruise, such as
Configure the autopilot and FMS navigation system.
Inadion verifies engine parameters and maintains communication with ATC.

Other than that check their remaining fuel, and make sure the airplane is following the correct flight path

Then, the pilot performs a
Checklist correctly and finally coordinate their approach time and procedures

Q

What are your obligations after landing the airplane?

A

After landing, pilots have several important responsibilities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the aircraft:

First of all, must vacate the runway immediately (rollout the runway) and taxi to the parking area or gate in addition to maintaining communication and following ATC instructions.

Once the aircraft arrives at the parking area, pilots go through a series of shutdown procedures. This involves shutting down the engines, shutting down various systems, and securing the aircraft to park.

Q

How can fatigue affect a pilot’s performance?

A

well, In my point of view, fatigue is very dangerous for a pilot’s such as

Reduce the situational awareness the pilot,

The pilots could also commit a mistake in the aircraft’s configuration, however forget a checklist,

Misunderstand the controller’s instructions.

Those are some examples on how fatigue can affect a pilot’s performance.

Companies should always have some guidelines to minimize fatigue within their crew members.

Q

What are the differences between GPS and the Inertial System?

A

I know that the GPS is based on satellite triangulation and it’s a very modern and accurate navigation system, it’s used on modern airplanes, today this is the main navigation system used by airlines around the world.

ON THE OTHER HAND,

The Inertial system is usually calibrated on the ground and it’s our backup system, it’s good but it’s not as precise as the GPS. In some cases, we can use the GPS to calibrate the Inertial system.

This my prediction about aviation in Brazil.

27
Q

What kind of emergency or abnormal situations can a pilot face during Takeoff?

A

Well, As far as I know, the pilot could face many situations (reasons) during takeoff such as.

Tyre blow out, bird strike or bird ingestion,
RWY incursion or excursion
Engine failure our engine fire
Cracked windshield
Stearing malfunction
Lack of thrust
Tail strike
Than a wind shear or wake turbulence after liftoff.

To end up in my opinion this is one of the most critical phases of the flight.

28
Q

How was your last flight? What did you do? Where did you go?

A

Well, my last flight was yesterday, I flew from Goiania to Sao Paulo, the flight lasted 02 hours in a King Air 350.

Once full landed, I performed a shut down the engine after that I went to the hotel for a rest and had a dinner.

29
Q

Compare the first aircraft you flew with the one you fly today.

A

They are completely different.
My first aircraft was an aeroboero, which is a very basic single engine propeller airplane with capacity for 2 pilots in tandem, used mostly for flight training and recreational flights.

Today I have been flying a King Air 350, it is a twin-engine propeller, low wing and T tail. Which allow carrying up to 9 passenger in the cabin and we fly at 35,000ft, moreover it’s a private aircraft

My current airplane is modem, faster and more technological than my first airplane.

30
Q

What are the differences between National and International flights?

A

Based on my knowledge,
The differences are that the international flights are normally long-haul flights performed mostly by wide body airplanes, the pilots only make one leg per day,

Moreover the pilots need a minimum level 4 on the ICAO English test, in addition and these flights normally happen during the night.

ON THE OTHER HAND,
National flights happen inside the country and they are what we call domestic flights. These flights are performed by narrow body airplanes and the pilot’s normally do 5 or 6 legs per day.

31
Q

Why are checklists important?

A

Well In my opinion, checklists are paramount because they will provide the necessary steps for the airplane’s correct configuration, moreover contribute to a safer flight.
Checklists are mandatory and we use them on every phase of the flight from engine startup to engine shutdown, especially in an abnormal or emergency situation.

32
Q

What is CRM?

A

CRM stands for Corporate Resource Management and it’s paramount tools in aviation because it will improve the synergy and teamwork within the crew
However increase the communication and most importantly, it’ll reduce the power distance. This will keep everybody on the same page, increasing our safety standards.

33
Q

Is Training important in your company?

A

Yes Of course, the training is very important (paramount) to improve the airmanship, enhance the CRM within the crew members in order to a safe operations
Every year I perfom training on simulator section also I´m evaluated once year on check rides to maintain my skills.

The planes will be fly themselves, nowadays the manufactures and startups are investing and researching hardly for this in addition the new technologies will be start.

36
Q

Are planes going to fly themselves in the future?

A

Yes, I think so. I believe that automation will be improved to increase flight safety and autonomous passenger flights will be possible,

However there will still be pilots in the cockpit, especially because flying is a very complex activity and the pilots will act more like managers, and will handle things like communication, paperwork, passengers, evacuation procedures and solve possible issues onboard.

So, I believe that at least one pilot inside the airplane will always be needed.

37
Q

Do you think university is important?

A

Yes, I think that university is important for pilots, because, the pilot throughout improve the your skills also knowledge the new technologies than air law and regulations.

Yes, as I can remember
I have already had a close collision experience 4 years ago,
I was flying an King Air, it was a beautiful day with clear skies and when I was approaching in Jundiai another aircraft crossed in front of me, I had to start a go around to avoid a collision, when I reported the problem to the controller and gave me vectors for a new approach, after landing I had to file a report about this situation.

41
Q

What are the best aspects of being a pilot?

A

In my opinion, the good aspects of being a pilot are: first, the lack of routine, it’s a very dynamic profession; the possibility to visit new places new country and meet new people.

42
Q

What is a briefing?

A

As I far as concerned, briefing is conversation before a flight, talking about the weather conditions, flight route and flight time, discus the alternate in addition NOTAM of course the aircraft operating.

43
Q

What is a briefing?

A

Based on my knowledge, a briefing is a preflight conversation regarding the most important aspects of the flight, during the briefing we talk about the flight duration, weather conditions, our alternative, evacuation procedures, cockpit code and discuss about any particularity of the flight. It’s a very good opportunity to know the rest of the crew and feel prepared for our mission.

44
Q

Tell me about your first flight.
How was it?

A

Well, As I can remember, my first flight was in 2008 when I was a privet pilot student in Londrina. The flight lasted one hour over the city, it was an Aeroboero 115, the aircraft was very basic, only used for a flight training, it´s a low wing one engine a tail draggier with fixed land gear, allow carry two people in tanden.
Broadly speaking the weather was quite nice with some clouds.
My first flight was one of the best moments of my life, I felt very happy that moment.

45
Q

Tell me about your first flight.
How was it?

A

My first flight was one of the best moments of my life. It happened in 2008 in londrina, I remember I was in a single engine airplane called Aeroboero 115. The weather was great, blue skies and calm winds.

It was a 1 hour local flight and I was with a flight instructor, it was the first time I flew in a small airplane and the flight instructor explained everything I needed to know about the aircraft, the airport, the flight, weather.
It was my first instruction flight and after landing I was 100% sure I wanted to be a pilot.

46
Q

What is the difference between V1 and V2?

A

Well, As I concerned the difference between V1 and V2 are;

V1 is a decision speed when the pilot abort/rejected takeoof before V1 or the pilot must continue takeoff roll after V1 .

V2 is a better speed in case of the one engine failure, it provides a safe margin from the stall speed and to climb a safe altitude.

Basically is the difference between V1 and V2

47
Q

What is the difference between V1 and V2?

A

Based on my knowledge, V1 is the decision speed. It’s the maximum speed to reject a takeoff in case a pilot has any problems during the roll.

And V2 is the minimum speed to climb after a takeoff, we use it in case of an engine failure, because it provides a safe margin from the stall speed. It’s our takeoff safety speed.

48
Q

How will avionics technology be improved in the future?

A

Well, I believe avionics will improve a lot in the future, specially communication will be via Datalink/CPDLC,
However the avionics will be more reliable and precise, reducing the pilot work load in addiiton enhance the safety flights.

49
Q

What recommendations did your instructor give you before your first checkride?

A

Well, As i can remember, I did´t expectation anything, but my flight instructor gave me some recommendations before my first checkride
first keep calms secondly performed a one traffic pattern, during the landed, control the rudder smooth. Once landing I taxied to the hangar for a complete shutdown the engine.

50
Q

What recommendations did your instructor give you before your first checkride?

A

I remember that he told me to concentrate on the flight and perform one traffic pattern he also told me to follow the checklist, remember the safety speeds, altitudes, in addition maintain communication whit the ATC.

That all I can remember the recommendations that my flight instructor gave me.

51
Q

How do pilots handle in-flight emergencies?

A

Well, As far as I know the pilot handle in flight emergencies like
First, perform the correct checklist
Secondly, Inform the ACT about this problem
Last but not least, land as soon as possible.

52
Q

How do pilots handle in-flight emergencies?

A

Well, the pilots handle in-flight emergencies such as.
First, fly the airplane, we need to take control and set a good speed, altitude and pitch.
After that, analyze the situation, run the appropriate checklist and perform all the necessary tasks.
Then, establish communication with ATC declaring a Mayday, informing about the problem and our intentions.
And finally; Land in the nearest suitable airport with ground assistance waiting for us.

53
Q

How do pilots determine V1,V2 and the rotation moment?

A

Well based own my knowledge, pilots determine V1 V2 and the rotation moment before each flight.

First all of, We calculate the W&B the aircraft
Secondly, We get the weather conditions the airport like temperature and dew point and wind.
Last, analyze the runway length in addition the RWY contaminate for example if is wet or no.

Those are some examples to determine V1 V2 Vr.

54
Q

How can weather conditions affect pilots?

A

As I far as I know, the weather condition affect pilots in many reasons, such as

Increase the flight time, affect the takeoff weight, used runway length

Affect the best flight cruise and speed

last but not lest, can cause a cancel the flight

Is the most important checking the weather forecasting before each flight to avoid jeopardize.

55
Q

What has changed in the last 10 years in Brazilian aviation?
