Azotemia Flashcards
(10 cards)
Azotemia is increased BUN and or creatinine. What are the three main causes of azotemia
- Prerenal
- Renal
- Postrenal
Main cause of pre renal azotemia
Decrease in glomerular filtration rate (GFR) due to decreased blood flow
What do NSAIDs cause
Constriction of afferent arteriole
Prerenal azotemia is caused by decreased glomerular filtration, due to decreased blood flow, what are four causes of decreased renal blood flow
- Decreased CO
- Hypovolemia
- NSAIDs
- Hemorrhage
Tx for prerenal azotemia
Restore intravascular volume
How do we identify prerenal azotemia
Creatinine and BUN decreases after restoring intravascular volume
Renal failure
Decrease of functional nephrons causes decreased excretory function
AKI
Acute Kidney Injury
ARF
Acute Renal Failure
CKF
Chronic Kidney Failure
