A

Which came first

Many scientists have dealt with the theory of evolution.

I have an exam tomorrow and I’m so excited

Not only humans can express their feelings, other living beings also have this ability.

Is it really true that good triumphs over evil?

Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

How did man come into being?
A very complex, but year-long taboo topic.
There are many scientists who have dealt with this topic.

Even the Greek Aristotle speculated about a possible theory of evolution.

Religion has also dealt with this topic; in this case the theory was certainly based on the assumption that God created man and the world.

Since the church played a very important and influential role, this theory was very common and accepted.

Q

Evolutionstheorie

The Origin of Species veröffentlichte.

A

Evolution theory

One of the first evolution theorists was actually Jean-Baptiste de Lamarck, who spoke about species change at the beginning of the 19th century.

He explained that various pieces of information (at that time it was not yet known what genetics meant) are inherited, i.e. passed on to children.

He also assumed biological diversity: not all living things have the same ancestors.

The best-known theorist remains Charles Darwin, who published the book The Origin of Species in 1859.

10
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

In 1831 Darwin began a five-year voyage at sea.
He was able to analyze the geological characteristics of the continents and islands he had visited.

He examined many living things and fossils and found many points in common between them.

He presented his conclusions in his book.

Here he is talking about natural selection, reproduction and variation, i.e. biodiversity and heredity.

Q

Zum Nachdenken!

Glaubst du an Darwins Theorie? Argumentiere!

A

To think about!

Do you believe in Darwin’s theory? Argue!

If I consider that … then I would say that Darwin is (not) correct with his theory.

13

Geht die menschliche Evolution in die richtige Richtung?

A

To think about!

What do you think?
Has man really developed a lot?
Is human evolution going in the right direction?

14
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

The selection enables the adaptation of the individuals and automates their evolution.

It is in the nature of living things to adapt to the new conditions of nature in critical situations.

The strong survive, while the weak die out.

Competition between species is an ongoing process.

Two aspects are important in this case: food security and reproduction.

15
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

Unfortunately, the climatic changes of the last few years have strongly influenced this evolutionary process and led to a negative development of some species.

In this case, nature intervenes and reduces the number of living things from the species in question.

Darwin’s theory was then confirmed by genetics in the 20th century.

This has proven that mutations and recombinations contribute to this natural selection.

16
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

His theory sparked strong resistance in the 19th century because it broke with old dogmas.

The church could not accept that living beings were not created by divine creation.

To date, there has been much debate about this theory.

Many scientists, scholars, and residents of the world find that Darwin’s theory does not correspond to reality and that man was created by God.

17
Q

A

To think about!

18
Q

Debatte

A

debate

You find Darwin’s theory realistic, but your teacher contradicts you.
Can you convince him that Darwin was right?

It is safe to say that …
I think that speaks against the fact that …

Student: Try to convince the teacher that Darwin’s theory is correct.

Teacher: Disagree with the student.

19
Q

A

Natural selection

Can we still speak of natural selection today?
Can you give a specific example?
From nature or your environment?

20
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

It is interesting that Darwin’s theory became known very quickly. At first it caused a stir.

His contemporaries could not accept that humans and apes have characteristics in common.

His theory was judged dangerous by the Church and even today it is not universally accepted.

Darwin’s theory enabled the emergence of a very interesting subject - genetic engineering.

Today genetic engineering has developed further, it has the opportunity to intervene where nature cannot or does not want to continue.

21
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

Living things change when genes mutate.
With the help of genetic engineering, researchers can eliminate or improve this mutation.

The question now surely arises whether in this case one can still speak of natural selection.

Clones and embryos are created in the laboratory, one speaks of artificial reproduction.

That would not have been possible in Darwin’s day, but it is a reality today.
This can also be described as evolution.

22
Q

Evolutionstheorie

A

Evolution theory

In nature it is not always important to have strength in order to survive.

It is often important to demonstrate intellectual intelligence and adaptability in order to be able to survive even in critical situations.

But if mutations can be eliminated in the laboratory today, how does natural selection take place?

Is that why many species are becoming extinct?

Man multiplies too quickly and thereby destroys everyone
other types?

Difficult to judge.

What would Darwin have said about this new trend in evolutionary theory?

His opinion would certainly have been very interesting!
