Banduras Social Learninf Theory(copying Theory) Flashcards
What his this theory based on
It’s based on observations of learning happening by looking and coping the behaviour of others
What is the sequence for social learning theory
-attention
-retention
-reproduction
-motivation
What is attention
Child notices the behaviour of another
What is retention
The child internalised the action/behaviour by remembering what they have observed
What is reproduction
The child reproduces the behaviour(not always straight away but when the opportunity comes)
What is motivation
Depending on the outcome, the child will receive reinforcement(positive or negitive) the child will repeat or don’t do the action again
What is the social learning theory
It’s the belief that learning happens through observing the behaviour of others
What was the experiment he did called
Bobo doll experiment
What was the method of the bobo doll experiment
Children were shown adults being aggressive or non aggressive to these bobo dolls.
The aggressive adults were either rewarded, punished or had no consequence to their behaviour
What did the experiment show
That children would copy the aggressive behaviour of another person
The reinforcement for the adult impacted the likelihood of the child coping their behaviour
What were the results of the bobo doll experiment
The children learned aggressive behavior thought observation
Children were more likely to copy the aggressive behavior if the adult was rewarded for their behaviour
