Q

Evolutionary theory

A

Evolution: A change over time in the frequency with which particular genes

Natural selection : Charles Darwin’s principle. The characteristics that increase the likelihood of survival and reproduction within a particular environment will be more likely to be preserved in the population and therefore will become more common in the species over time.

Mutation: random events and accidents in gene reproduction during the division of cells.

Adaptions: Physical or behavioural changes that allow organisms to meet recurring environmental challenges to their survival, thereby increasing their reproductive ability.

Q

One evolutionary explanation of behaviour– sexuality and mate preferences

A

Assumption: Reproduction, pass on genes, maintain species, survival .
Mating strategis and prefrences reflect inherited tendencies, shaped over the ages in response to different types of adaptive problems that men and woman faced.

Buss et al(1990)
Many similar ponts but also there are points that differ.
For example:
Men: Place greater value on physical attractiveness and domestic skills
Woman: Focus on earning potential, status and ambitiousness.

Q

Genetic inheritance influence behaviour

A
Monozygotic twins (MZ): identical
Dizygotic Twins (DZ):
