biomechanics Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is normal leg/knee alignment?
170-175 degrees of valgus
What angle has the largest patellofemoral contact?
90 degrees
Why do intra-articular ligaments have poor healing potential?
Rupture tissue undergoes phagocytic action when exposed to synovial fluid.
What range of motion is safe in OKC post ACL?
90-40 degrees of flexion
What range of motion is safe in CKC post ACL?
0-60 degrees of flexion
What is the criteria to begin dynamic stability training?
full extension, minimal effusion, flexion >100, QI>40%, no extension lab, gait w/o limp, and no AD
What is the progression to running?
no AD, full ROM, pain free, no swelling, 80% quad strength, 2-3 months post op
What is the progression to agility training and sports specific drills?
running without symptoms, 80% quad strength, performance on hop test >85% at 12 weeks, begins at half effort and progress to full effort, usually 3-6 months
