Flashcards in Brain Deck (7):
Largest part of the brain, divided into left and right hemispheres (separated by the CORPUS COLLOSUM), left controls right of body, and vice versa
2nd largest part of the brain, located near the back of the cerebrum, where impulses arise that give rise to movement, coordination, smooth and fine motor functions, and maintains muscle tone, posture and balance/coordination.
Another name for the brain stem. Main pathway between the brain and spinal cord- controls heartbeat and breathing.
Conducts impulses from the left hemisphere to the right (& vice versa).
Responsible for intelligence, covers the hemispheres.
Located in the centre of the brain. Relay station for information going towards the cerebrum. Channels information to the appropriate place and prevents sensory overload. Autistic people can have sensory overloads.
