WHAT IS CASE STUDY?
A case study is an in-depth study of one person, group, or event.
3 PRIMARY TYPES OF A CASE STUDY:
- Key Cases
- Outliner Cases
- Local knowledge case study
are those which are chosen because the researcher has a particular interest in it or the circumstances surrounding it?
Key Cases
are those that are chosen because the case stands out from other events, organizations, or situations, for some reason, and social scientists recognize that we can learn a lot from those things that differ from the norm?
Outliner Cases
when they already have amassed a usable amount of information about a given topic, person, organization, or event, and so is well-poised to conduct a study of it?
Local knowledge case study
5 TYPES OF CASE STUDY:
1.Descriptive case stud
2. Illustrative case study
3. Cumulative case study
4. Exploratory case study
5. Explanatory case study
These involve starting with a descriptive theory. The subjects are then observed, and the information gathered is compared to the pre-existing theory.
Descriptive case study
aims to examine an unfamiliar case to help others understand it, offering insights and context for a specific situation or phenomenon.
Illustrative case study
aggregate data from several sites collected at different times.
Cumulative case study
is a type of study primarily conducted to gain a broad understanding of a subject when there is limited information available.
Exploratory case study
aims to understand “how” or “why” a phenomenon occurs, focusing on explaining causal relationships and the interplay of factors within a specific context, often used in complex, real-life situations.
Explanatory case study
