How many outflow valves are there?
4 (2 front 2 aft)
each driven by a single electrical motor
How many modes do the outflow valves operate in?
- Auto
- Manual
- Backup
If an automatic mode fails on one of the outflow valves how will it operate?
If only one outflow valve is still operating fully in auto mode then it shall be master and control all other outflow valves with failed auto modes
So auto is still retained on all the valves
manual mode only comes up if ALL auto modes are lost
What input do the outflow valves get and from what system does it get the input?
the AFDX network supplies info from the:
* FMS
* Doors
* Landing gear
* Engines
* Air Con
* ADIRS

In manual mode which control has priority?
Cabin altitude mode has priority over cabin vertical speed mode.
Cabin vertical speed mode is intended to be only used in smoke removal procedure
What is the default value the cabin vertical speed reverts to one the MAN pb is pressed on either CABIN ALT or CABIN V/S manual modes?
Defaults to 0 fpm until a selection is made
What happens to an outflow valve if both its respective manual and auto modes fail?
It closes automatically without and operational impact
How many cabin air extract valves are there and what are their uses?
What happens when the associated OVRD pb is pressed?
2 and they are pneumatically operated as to prevent over pressurization or to aid in smoke removal
It forces the exract valves to open
What closes when ditching pb is pressed?
Closes all valves below the flotation line:
* All Outflow
* RAM inlet/outlet
* Pack overboard and cargo isol valves
Also stops cabin fans
During cruise the CABIN ALT is regulated not to exceed xxxxx. This agrees with a differential pressure of xxxxx.

What would happend of AVNCS EXTRACT pb is set to OVRD?
Both the Extract and overboard valves will be overriden
On the ground and engines are not running.. what is the normal configuration of the extract and overboard valves?
Extract Closed
Overboard Fully Open
