Cells Flashcards
(11 cards)
Cells
in biology, the smallest unit that can preform all life processes
Cell membrane
a phospholipid layer that covers a cells surface
nucleus
in a eukaryotic cell, a membrane-bound organelle that contains the cells DNA.
Cell Wall
Rigid structure that surround that cell membrane and provides support to the cell
Ribosome
cell organelle composed of RNA and protein; the site of protein synthesis
endoplasmic reticulum
a system of membranes that is found in the cells cytoplasm and that is found in a cell’s cytoplasm and that assists in the production, processing, and transport of proteins and in the productions of lipids
Golgi complex
cell organelle tat helps make and package materials to be transported out of the cell
vesile
a small cavity or sac that contains materials in an eukaryotic cell
Lysosome
a cell organelle that contains digestive enzymes
Cytoplasm
the material or protoplasm within a living cell, excluding the nucleus.
mitochondria
an organelle found in large numbers in most cells, in which the biochemical processes of respiration and energy production occur. It has a double membrane, the inner layer being folded inward to form layers (cristae).
