How many members required for a unit to be in service for CFRD?
2 trained members FF and officers count. MUST START tour with 2 trained FF’s
What are CFRD assignments?
*Airway-stabilize spine of trauma, o2 bag, maintain airway
*Boss-hand light and radio
*Checker-compressions, hands on care, patient assessment, trauma bag
*Defib/Document-PCR and Defib
*Equipment-5th man, initially with apparatus, carry extra equip
ECC or NON trained member remains with rig
Is a PCR needed for a DOA?
YES
Signs of DOA?
- obvious death
- dependent lividity
- Rigor Mortis
- Decomposition
- Valid DNR
When no patient found________?
Take mark in journal (10-92)
May EMS safeguard a premise?
NO
Is a PCR required for RMA patient?
YES
What should be obtained from a physician if they are on the scene?
6 digit ID# and note such on PCR
Does ESU retain patient care if they arrive first?
YES, if CFR unit is on scene 1st they retain patient care unless ESU equipped with AED and wants to assume
What information is relayed to dispatch after initial patient assessment?
- CUPS status
- Age
- Chief complaint
- pulse, resp rate
- IF CPR initiated
Is fire apparatus ever allowed to transport?
NEVER
Where shall telemetry # be posted?
On PCR chart. Telemetry may be used for international language bank.
Who is notified when child abuse suspected?
EMS. Entry made in journal of those notified and their unit #

What are acceptable for DNR?
- out of hospital DNR’s (don’t expire)
- DNR bracelet. DNR need not be located
- hospital or nursing home DNR. MUST be current and from same facility.
MOLST/Health Care Proxy/Living Will or Power of Attorney NOT recognized.
Where shall RED bags be disposed of?
CFRD depot
- Depot officer shall contact solid waste technologies for pick up, if missed pick contact resource center.
- NEVER place RED bag outside of QTRS
How are items being sent for Decon to be bagged?
Double clear bag
- in house decon 1/99 ratio bleach to water/ 1 packet to 1 gallon spray bottle, packet added first then water, disposed of after 24hrs
For NON casual or Meningitis exposure notify_______?
BHS immediately or Car 32 thru FDOC during off hrs
What does flashing BLACK hourglass in upper RIGHT corner of Defib indicate?
- Operational ready for use
- Flashing or Solid RED X and emits chirping sound Defib OOS
Can expired Defib pads be used?
NO, expiration date found on Lower LEFT of packet
How many blankets MUST ALL CFRD units carry with them at ALL times?
(2) they are WHITE w/FDNY in BLUE
- Depots MUST have minimum of (25)
- CFRD units MUST have minimum of (6) in stock
When can MCI bag be used?
ONLY when highest ranking officer operating at Mass Casualty Incident determines # of patients requiring hemorrhage control exceeds standard equipment available. Once opened officer shall have dispatch notify OMA on call medical director
Do units require MCI bag to be in service?
NO
What does MCI Bag contain?
(6) separate kits each containing
1-pressure dressing 1-mask with wrap around splash guard 1-trauma shears 1-tourniquet 1-hemostatic agent dressing 1-2" cloth tape 3-4x4" sterile bandages 2-pair WHITE sterile gloves
