Flashcards in CH 7: Axis Deck (13):
1

Vector and hypertrophy

points toward hypertrophy

2

Vector and infarction

points away from infarction

3

Obese people

horizontal heart (toward the left side)

4

Tall, slender people

vertical heart (toward the right side)

5

To measure vector in the frontal plane use

leads I and AVF (see pg 231)

6

Normal Axis in frontal plane

-positive QRS in lead I; positive QRS in lead AVF
-downward and to the left

7

Right Axis Deviation

Either upward or downward and to the right

8

Left Axis Deviation

-QRS is positive in lead I and negative AVF
-Upward and to the left

9

To find the exact value of deviation

-find which lead is most isoelectric
-look up the corresponding exact number

10

To measure vector in the horizontal plane use

lead V2
(normally = negative)

11

Most isoelectric chest lead (for horizontal vector) is usually

V3 or V4

12

Rightward deviation most isoelectric chest lead is

V1 or V2

13

Leftward deviation most isoelectric chest lead is

V5 or V6
