1
Q

Classical conditioning

A

Is learning in which a stimulus that does not elicit a response, is repeatedly linked with a stimulus that does automatically get a response.

2
Q

Operant conditioning

A

Is a learning process in which the likelihood of a behaviour being repeated is determined by the consequences of that behaviour.

3
Q

Extinction

A

Is the decrease in strength and frequency of a conditioned response when the unconditioned stimulus is no longer available.

4
Q

Spontaneous recovery

A

Is the reappearance of a conditioned response to the conditioned stimulus after a period of extinction.

5
Q

Stimulus discrimination

A

Is the ability to discriminate between stimuli so that only a specific stimulus produces the conditioned response.

6
Q

Stimulus generalisation

A

Is when stimuli similar to the conditioned stimulus produce the conditioned response.

7
Q

Acquisition

A

Is the gaining of knowledge or a skill

8
Q

What are the 5 stages of observational learning?

A
Attention
Retention
Reproduction
Motivation
Reinforcement
9
Q

Observational learning

A

Is learning through a model doing a behaviour or action and then the learner reproduces that behaviour from observing it.

10
Q

Long-term potentiation and long-term depression

A

LTP is the increase in the efficiency of synaptic transmission between neurons. LTD is the reduced efficiency of synaptic transmission.

11
Q

Learning

A

Is when an individual is able to produce a behaviour due to experience.
