What is a median cut throughout the body?
A longitude cut throughout the top of the body which separates the body into left and right sides.
What is a Sagittal cut throughout the body?
A longitude cut through the median of the body separating it from right to left.
What is a coronal, frontal cut?
A latitude cut going throughout the body separating it from front and back.
What is a transverse cross?
A cut across the body which separates top and bottom halves.
What is cranial, superior?
A structure that is closer to the top of the head than any other structure in the head.
What is anterior, ventral?
A structure that refers to being more in the front, or on the abdominal side.
What is rostral?
A beak like structure in the front of the head that sticks out.
What is posterior, dorsal?
A structure referring to being more in the back.
What is medial?
A structure referring to being more towards the median plane.
What is lateral?
A structure further away from the median plane.
What is proximal?
A structure being closed to the median plane or root of a line.
What is distal?
Refers to a structure being further away from the median plane or root of a limb.
What is caudal, inferior?
Refers to being closer to the feet or lower part of the body.
Closer to the surface of the body.
A structure farther from the surface.
On the same side.
