an instrument that assesses frequency, duration, and intensity of physical activity by measuring acceleration and deceleration of the body. Values can be stored and then downloaded to a computer.
accelerometer
an instrument that assesses heart rate (HR). HR is related to intensity of physical activity.
heart rate monitor
methods that are not influenced by perception; these methods include pedometers, accelerometers, and heart rate monitors.
