1
Q

Colles fracture

A

distal radius fx, usually broke in extension. can be associated with dinner fork deformity

2
Q

madelung deformity

A

congenital, causes the hand and wrist to be volarly displaced

3
Q

Smith fractures

A

distal radius fx, associated with a break in flexion

4
Q

ape hand

A

median neuropathy

weakness/atrophy of muscles in thenar eminence, pulls thumb parallel with fingers

5
Q

bishop’s deformity

A

weakness/atrophy of hypothenar, interossie, medial lumbricals

medial fingers assume resting flexed position

inhibition of ulnar nerve (benediction deformity)

6
Q

claw hand

A

ulnar / median nerve involvement

weakness/atrophy of hand intrinsic muscles results in extension of MCP joint and flexion of PIP and DIP

7
Q

Dupuytren’s Contracture

A

involved finger’s assume excessively flexed resting position

inability to passively/activiely extend the MCP and PIP joints of involved finger

flexion contracture of MCP and PiO joint caused by shortening or adhesion of palmar fascia

8
Q

Swan-Neck Deformity

A

flexion of MCP and DIP joints in and hyperextension of PIP

caused: volar plate, malunion, trauma to the finger flexor or extensor muscles, rheumatoid arthritis

9
Q

Volkmann’s Ischemic Contracture

A

Flexion contraction of the wrist and fingers (cli fingers), limited extension

decrease in blood supply to the forearm muscles

10
Q

jersey finger

A

avulsion of the flexor digitorum profundus tendon

inability to actively flex the DIP joint

11
Q

Mallet finger

A

avulsion of the extensor digitorum longus tendon

inability to actively extend the distal phalanx

12
Q

Boutonniere deformity

A

rupture of the central extensor tendon

Extension of MCP and DIP and flexion of the PIP

13
Q

pseudo-boutonniere deformity

A

a rupture of the volar plate
