How to remember where the ammeter and voltmeter go in the circuit?
Voltmeter always had to ‘hug’ the lamp/LED etc
Ammeter wants to be next to to it (hold its hand)
Describe the current in series circuits
Same everywhere
Only goes one way
Describe the current in parallel circuits
Shared by the branches (not always equally)
Only goes one way
Describe potential difference is series circuits
Shared by components (not always equally)
Describe potential difference is parallel circuits
Same in each branch
Describe resistance in series circuits
Adds up
Rt=R1+R2+…
Describe resistance in parallel circuits
Total resistance is less than the branch with the lowest resistance
1/Rt = 1/R1+1/R2…
What is potential difference?
Energy per coulomb of charge
V=IxR if…
Temp is constant
in the circuit model, what do the cows represent
the main supply/chemical store giving energy to the power supply
in the circuit model, what does the ice cream shop represent
the power supply which keeps the current going
in the circuit model, what do the delivery men represent
energy being transferred in a current by electrons (which have a charge)
in the circuit model, what does the delivery man who is now empty handed represent
energy is used up around the circuit
in the circuit model, what does the returning delivery men represent
electrons return, with their charge, to get more energy
