A

public participation in the scientific process. the idea of scientist as a job is common in western culture, however First Nations peoples have a very intergrated view of science

what can citizens be involved in/what are they most commonly involved in?

A

the public can be involved in all levels of the scientific method.
the community isnt necessarily involved in all steps, perhaps 1 or 2. it depends on the project.
most commonly, the public is involved in data collection, analysis and result communication

A

Public:
-builds a sense of community
-increases awareness of issues
-increases scientific literacy
Science
-outsources workload (unpaid labor)
-allows the big qs to be tackled
