why do baseline health + fitness tests need to be carried out?
-shows professional practise
-helps evaluate clients starting point
-provides baseline for goal setting+tracking

what are some reasons against doing health + fitness tests?
-if progress is slow it might demotivate
-resulst may demorolise clients if put into catorgories
-may make client feel uncomfortable
-risk of error when collecting data
what is the objective of a blood pressure test?
measure the force the heart uses to pump blood around the body. The client should not have a high blood pressure
what is the protocol for carrying out a blood pressure test?
-client sits upright
-legs uncrossed
-feet on floor
-arm being used should be supported
-blood pressure cuff should be on upper arm
-2.5cm above the bend of the elbow
what is the objective of BMI testing?
to estimate a persons body composition
what is the protocol for carrying out a BMI test?
-take height and weight
-BMI=mass (kg) divided height(metres)^2
what is the objective of the hip ratio test?
provides info about where the fat is stored
what is the protocol for carrying out a hip ratio test?
-find midpoint between hip bone+ last rib
-measure the waist at that point
-measure hips at widest part
-divide waist by hips
what is the objective of the body composition test?
-estimate body fat %
what is the objective of a skinfold callipers test?
estimates body fat %
what is the protocol for skinfold calliper test?
-measuring should be done on the right side of the body
-grip skinhold firmly between finger and thumb
-pull fold anyway from underlying tissues
-place calliper 1cm away from finger and thumb
-wait 2-4 seconds then note the reading to the nearest mm
-repeat 3 times and record average
