Objectives, Long Term Goals, Short Term Goals

Be familiar with CCSS and Frameworks, utilize district adopted textbooks and curriculum. Utilize California Assessments like Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR), CAlifornia Standards Test (CST), iReady Assessment issued three times a year for reading. Also Curriculum Unit Tests, and Informal Reading Inventory.

Teacher responsibilities

provide students with meaningful experiences with literary and informational text that align with grade level CCSS.

CCSS is a Staircase to College Career and Readiness Anchor Standards (CCR)

K-5 Strand: 3 components (Reading Literature, Reading inform text, and Foundational Skills)

6-12 Reading (2 components: Reading literature and reading informational text)

6-12 (Reading 2 components Literacy in history/social studies and reading literacy in science and techinical subjects.)

All k-12 focus on the same strand for writing, speaking and listening, and language.

Precommunicative

Shows no understanding that letters represent sounds.

Ex: aallo means my cat is white

Semiphonetic

Children attempt to use letters to represent sounds, poorly developed
EX: banana is baa

Phonetic

Know that letters represent sounds and at least one letter represents each sound in a word.

Ex: I lik two flii a kitt

Transitional

The child knows most of the orthographic patterns of English. All sounds have letters. It is easy to read.

EX: The firefiters have to be able to climb up bildings.

Conventional

Child spells almost all words correctly. The only prevalent mistakes are that of words with unusual spellings.
