Most commonly eversion or lateral rotation. Talus & mortise

Plantar Fasciitis- Eti

Young runners, most common cause of heel pain. Peak incidence at 40-60

Plantar Fasciitis- Sx

Insidious pain on plantar heel with first steps or prolonged standing. Diminishes with rest. Tenderness along anteromedial aspect of calcaneus

Plantar Fasciitis-Tx

6-18 months to correct. Activity modification, NSAIDs, heel support, stretching

Phalangeal Fracture- Eti

Crush or direct blow injury or stress fracture

Phalangeal Fracture- Sx

Tenderness over bony structures

Buddy tape, reduction if needed.

Fall or high velocity trauma- commonly assoc with spine fracture, bilateral

Severe heel pain, inability to bear weight. Possible ecchymosis & deformity.

Casting or surgery

Idiopathic inflammation of nerve ganglion in foot.

Pain in forefoot, pebble in shoe, sensation changes

Hammer toe- Eti

Most common digital deformity. Second digit most common. Due to genes, biomechanics, shoes

Hammer toe- Sx

Pain and deformity of 1+ lesser toe. Dorsiflexion and callus formation

Bunion- Eti

Genetics, shoes, mechannics

Bunion- Sx

Laterally deviated big toe, erythema and edema. Tenderness at MTP joint
