Classification

Beta adrenergic blocker

Action

Possesses non selective beta & alpha blocking activity, causes vasodilation

Initially 6.25 mg twice a day may double in 1-2 weeks maximum 50 mg/ day

Fatigue dizziness

Contraindications

Bronchial asthma decomponsated heart failure, 2nd or 3rd degree AV block, severe bradycardia

B/P apical pulse if pulse less than 60 or B/P less than 90 systolic hold Rx contact MD, monitor hypotension dyspnea, assess pulse monitor I&O
Renal hepatic function tests
