Sensory- lacrimal sensation - close eyes and identify touch of cotton ball to forehead/cheek/jawline
Decreased ability to chew; loss of facial sensation

Lateral Eye Movement - 6 fields of gaze
Diplopia, strabismus (one eye unable to focus on the same object as other eye)

Motor- Facial expressions - smile, puff out cheeks
Sensory - tast - anterior 2/3rds of the tongue - identify sweet/salty
Bell’s Palsy
Decreased ability to distinguish taste

Motor - Swallowing - gag reflex with tongue depressor
Sensory - Taste - Posterior 2/3rds of the tongue - identify sweet/salty

Sensory - Phonation - guttural speech saying ‘garage’ or garbage’
