What is an independent variable?

The independent variable is the variable which is changed by the investigator between each set of measurements.

The outcome of the experiment which you measure

A control variable is a variable which may affect the outcome of the investigation so has to be kept constant

Categoric variables have a values that are labels, for example, the name of a plant, or type of a material
