Where do earthquakes happen?
Earthquakes can happen along any type of plate boundary. (Mainly at passive plate boundaries)
What is an earthquake
An earthquake is a series of seismic waves, (release of energy or tremors) (shaking and vibration) in the crust of the earth due to movement of the earths plates
How are earthquakes caused?
They are caused at the build up of pressure at plate boundaries, as plates collide of glide past one another.
How long do earthquakes last?
Earthquakes don’t usually last longer than a minute.
What are aftershocks?
Small tremors have aftershocks, they may occur in the hours or days after an earthquake
How is an earthquake recorded?
An earthquake is recorded on a seismograph.
What is used to measure the strength of an earthquake?
The scale used to describe the strength and force (magmatude) is called a richer scale.
