Nernst Potential
A
- the potential on one side of a membrane needed to prevent (counteract) the diffusion of ions through the membrane. It is calculated as (RT/zF)*ln(ion out/ion in). R - the ideal gas constant (8.314…), T - temperature in K, F - Faraday’s constant 9.6485, and z is the charge of the ion.
