The Enclosure Movement’s goal

A

was to enclose the common fields on agricultural lands that by tradition were open to the tenant farmers and laborers to grace their animals, glean firewood, and so on. It began in the 17th C. and was nearly complete a century later. Enclosure allowed landowners to experiment with new crops and new production techniques. it resulted in an increase in the number of landless peasants and poor agricultural workers.
