Flashcards in Expedient Demo Deck (16):
What are the optimum characteristics of an expedient shape charge?
Cavity liner: copper, tin, zinc, glass. Cavity angle: 42-45 deg opti (30-60 deg exped) Explosive height: two times the cone height Standoff distance: 1 1/2 the diameter of cone Detonation point: exact top center of the charge
Explain the formula for expedient shape charge?
Vol of cylinder: 3.14 x Rsqrd x ht of expl (2x ht of cone). Vol of cone: 3.14 x Rsqrd x 1/3 ht of cone. Vol of expl: vol of cyl - vol of cone = VE
What are the principle differences between the munroe effect and miznay chardin effect?
Munroe: the shock waves reflect off each other increasing speed of explosive which forms a jet. Miznay chardin: Large sheet of explosive with a sturdy metal backing plate. After initiation, the explosion turns the metal plate into a blunt nosed projectile.
What are the explosive and plate weights of an expedient platter charge?
Explosive = to the weight of the platter. Plate is 2 - 6 lbs. (use buffer for plate integrity)
What is your cover size for a dust initiator charge? Other characteristics?
3 - 5 lbs of dust for each 1,000 cubic feet of target. (3lbs enclosed) (5lbs partially enclosed). 1lb will detonate 40lbs of cover. If charge size is 1 lb (half explosive & half incendiary).
What are the time increments on a M2 crimper?
Nut: 1 sec. Nut to top of crimpers: 4 sec. Full length: 25 sec
For Expedient Flame Fougasse (Directional Napalm), what are your ratios?
150 oz of M4 thickening compound and 50 gal of fuel. (3 oz of M4 thkning compound per gal)
What size M112 blocks should you use to prime mortar and artillery rounds? What are the NEW's?
60mm: 1/4 M112 & NEW 1 lb 81mm: 1/3 M112 & NEW 2 lb 4.2IN: 1/2 M112 & NEW 9 lb 105mm: 1/2 M112 & NEW 10 lb 120mm: 1 M112 & NEW 10 lb. (All have comp B. RE = 1.38)
How much explosive is needed for the shape charges in the M303 SOF Demo Kit?
SMALL: 1/2 BLOCK. MEDIUM: 4 1/2 BLOCKS
M303 SOF DEMO KIT?
Small EFP: 3" D/penetration 1"(Armor for all) Medium EFP: 6" D/penetration 2.5" Linear Cavity Charge SMALL: 3/4" Linear Cavity Charge EXTRA SMALL: 1/4"
M67 Hand grenade?
.5 lbs Comp B; RE 1.38
Daisy chained claymore?
1.5 lbs C4; RE 1.34. Emplaced 3 - 5 meters apart at minimum.
Ammonium Nitrate Satchel Charge ratios?
4 lbs of fertilizer to 1 lb of wax
EXPLOSIVE: M112. FORMULA: 1/4 of the projectile weight = the amount of explosive used BUFFER: 2" thick on top of explosive.
How much explosive is needed for the Linear Cavity Charge (LCC)?
SMALL: 1/5 BLOCK C4. EXTRA SMALL: 1/8 BLOCK C4
