Falcon 900 B Electrical Flashcards
(38 cards)
Can a GPU be used to charge the batteries?
No, unless the optional battery charging system is installed.
How many electrical buses?
8 - Battery bus, starter bus, left main bus, right main bus, bus A1, bus A2, bus B1, bus B2.
Are the left and right main buses normally tied?
No. Although it must be selected closed to start the APU and, if a GPU is connected, the bus tie automatically closes.
To which bus are the two voltmeters connected?
To the right and left main buses. (24-5)
What are the volts and amps of each nicad battery?
Nicad, 26 volts, 23 amp hours (24-7)
How are the batteries vented on the ground/in the air?
Fan on the ground, fan turns off in the air and ventilation provided by low pressure in the vent duct created by shape of protruding vent exhaust on the skin of the aircraft
What switch is directly associated with the battery switch?
What would cause these switches to trip?
Make-and-break switches (24-8)
Excessive current flow to the batteries
What 4 items are powered when the battery bus is connected?
F.R.O.G. F - Fire extinguishing R - Refuel panel O - Outboard Slats Normal system 1 G - Generator excitation (24-9)
How are buses A1 and A2 powered?
Left Main bus - when the left battery is connected and the battery switch is on and the power switch is in the NORMAL position, it provides power to the left main bus - no power goes to the Right main if the bus tie is open. (24-9)
How are buses B1 and B2 powered?
Right Main bus - when the Right battery is connected, the battery switch is on and the power switch is in the NORMAL position, it provides power to the Right main bus. - no power goes to the Left main bus if the bus tie is open (24-9)
How many amps/volts are produced by the APU generator?
300 amps, 28.5 volts
Do the buses need to be manually tied in order to start the APU?
Yes - using the switch on the overhead panel.
What protection is between the RH and LH main buses?
A 225 amp current limiter. (24-3)
To which main bus is the APU connected?
Right Main bus - but when the APU is started the bus tie must be closed so the APU powers both main buses once it is running. (24-15)
Does the APU charge the batteries?
Yes
What high voltage would cause the GCU to kick off a generator from the electrical system?
32 volts
What systems will automatically load shed if one generator goes off line?
galley, lavatory, cabin entertainment
Does the APU help in the start of an engine?
Yes. Unless SB 315 is installed on the aircraft. (see FS manual pg 24-18 left column, top paragraph.)
In flight normal operation which generator(s) power the left main bus?
Gens 1 & 3 which in turn power the A1 and A2 buses.
In flight normal operation which generator(s) power the right main bus?
Gen 2 which in turn power the B1 and B2 buses (24-23)
If engine No. 2 is shut down what must be done to power the Right Hand Main bus?
Close the bus tie. If this is not done then only the RH battery will power the bus.
What is the maximum amperage rating for a GPU powering the airplane?
1200 amps
What happens if the GPU puts out too much voltage for the aircraft?
An over voltage relay will disconnect the GPU from the aircraft. If the problem is rectified then a GPU reset button can be pressed to reset the system. This button is on the main electrical box in the hell hole on the Left side.
Is it normal for BAT 1 and BAT 2 lights to come on when a GPU is connected to the aircraft?
Yes, the batteries are automatically disconnected from the aircraft when the EXT POWER switch is selected on the overhead panel
