What is uroperitoneum?
Presence of urine in abdomen
What is the cause of uroperitoneum?
Ruptured bladder or urachus
Is a ruptured bladder more common in coats or fillies?
When is a ruptured bladder usually diagnosed?
Within the first few days of life
Where is the bladder usually ruptured?
Can occur spontaneously or 2* to infection of umbilical structures
When is a ruptured urachus usually diagnosed?
Can present at various ages
How do you diagnose uroperitoneum?
Ultrasound, abdominal tap
How will abdominal fluid be altered with uroperitoneum?
Elevated CREA (2:1 fluid:serum)
What cliniopathologic changes will be seen with uroperitoneums?
Azotemia, hyperkalemia, decr. Na and Cl
How do you treat uroperitoneum?
E-lyte correction, surgical correction
