Theory that states that earth's outer shell consists of plates that move causing earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, and the formation of new crust.

Plate tectonics are important because you can tell where plates have collided to make mountains and volcanoes.
A ridge of gravel and rock deposits left by a glacial stream when the glacier melts.

You can tell where the glacial stream went through the glacier and you now have easy access to gravel.
