(32 cards)
Gluteus Maximus: Proximal Attachment
- Ilium (behind posterior gluteal line)
- Posterior surface of Sacrum and coccyx
- Sacrotuberous ligament
Gluteus Maximus: Distal Attachment
- Iliotibial band (superficial 75%)
* Gluteal tuberosity (deep 25%)
Gluteus Maximus: Action
- Extends thigh
- Laterally rotates thigh
- Steadies trunk on thigh
Gluteus Maximus: Innervation
Inferior gluteal nerve
Gluteus Medius: Proximal Attachment
External surface of ilium between posterior and anterior gluteal lines
Gluteus Medius: Distal Attachment
Lateral surface of greater trochanter of the femur
Gluteus Medius: Action
- Abducts thigh
- Stabilising pelvis in SLS
- Medially rotates thigh
Gluteus Medius: Innervation
Superior Gluteal Nerve
Gluteus Minimus: Proximal Attachment
External surface of ilium between anterior and inferior gluteal lines

Obturator Internus: Action
- Laterally rotates extended thigh
- Steadies femoral head in acetabulum
- Abducts flexed thigh
Obturator Internus: Innervation
Nerve to obturator internus
