1

What is the function of gproteins?

Transduce a extracellular signal into intracellular response

involved in signaling
membrane vesicular transport
cytoskeletal assembly
protein synthesis

2

What are the classes of Gproteins?

I-heterodimers (a,b.g)

II-small monomeric G protiens

3

What is the function of a subunit of class I g protiens?

binding & hydrolyzing
interact with receptor and effector proteins
it has GTPase activity

4

What is the fuction of the bg subunit of class II g protiens?

anchors G-protien
holoenzyme signaling
they are hydrophobic

5

What family does class II gproteins belong?

Ras superfamily of small gprotiens

used for:
signaling
they psses GTPase activity
cycles through GDP/GTP exchange

6

What are targets for G protiens?

Adenylyle cyclases- 9 types
Guanylyl cyclases (membrane bound type 1; Soluble type 2)
Phospholipase C (PLC) (13 types)
Phospholipase A (A1 and A2)
Ion channels

7

What secondfary messengers does gprotiens produce?

cAMP
cGMP
IP3
DAG
CA

8

What are third messengers produced by g protiens?

protein kinases
PKA
PKC
PKG

9

What is Gs?

stimulatory g protein

if activates adenylate cyclase

10

What is Gi?

inhibitory g protein?

inhibits adenylate cyclase

11

What modulates G protiens?

regulator G protein signaling (RGS)

RGS:
GTPase activating proteins (GAPS)
GTPase inhibitory proteins

12

What is the function of GAPs?

GTPase activating protein
they inhibit G protein function by promotes GTPase activity of alpha subunit

13

What is the function of GIPs?

GTPase inhibitory proteins

promotes G protein function by inhibiting GTPase activity of the alpha subunit
