HCF & LCM Flashcards
HCF is the greatest number that will divide the given numbers completely
Eg: The HCF of 6,18,24 is 6 . Here 6 divides 6,18,24 completely
True or false
The HCF of multiples of a number would be the number itself
True
Eg: 3,6,9 are the multiples of 3. Here the HCF is 3
The LCM of any two co-prime numbers can be obtained by multiplying those two numbers
Eg :
5 & 7 are co-prime numbers . The LCM of 5 & 7 is obtained by multiplying 5 & 7 ie.35
If the numbers are multiples of any number, then the LCM will be the greatest number .
Eg : 5,10,15 are the multiples of 5 , so the LCM will be 15 . You have to keep in mind that 5,10,15 are continuous multiples of 5
For any two numbers , the product of the numbers will be equal to the product of their HCF & LCM
Eg 6 & 8 HCF=2 LCM=24 Now, 2×24=6×8
