Q

MOI of Head Injuries

A

Coup - stationary skull is by object traveling at high speeds.
Contrecoup - Skull is moving at high speed and abruptly stopped
Repeated sub-concussive forces - repeated non-traumatic blows

Q

Slow Breathing is less than_____breathes/min

A

12

17
Q

Thoracic breathing

A

Breathing occurs only through expansion of chest, abdominal movement is absent; disruption of phrenic nerve or its nerve roots

18
Q

Accelerated BPM is…

A

> Greater than 150 BPM

19
Q

Deficit

A

Radial pulse is less than cardiac pulse;cardiac arrhythmia

20
Q

High Tension

A

Force of beat is increased;cerebral trauma

21
Q

Low Tension

A

Short, fast, faint pulse with rapid decline; heart failure, shock

22
Q

Normal Pulse Pressure

A

40mm Hg

Greater than 50 mm Hg may indicate increased intracranial bleeding

23
Q

Determination of Consciousness

Primary Survery

A

If unconscious, check ABC’s - look,listen,and feel
Send someone to call EMS
Use modified jaw thrust to open airway
