On the 2nd and 4th August 1964, the USS Maddox, an American Destroyer, was attacked by 3 North Vietnamese torpedo ships.

The Second incident, according to Congress was similar to the first one. However, many people believe that it was a Hoax created by the US Government to allow them to go to war with N. Vietnam and never happened
