What is intrinsic homeostasis? Give examples.

A

Organ or organ system adjusts in response to change. Example would be heart maintaining its own rhythm.

What is extrinsic homeostasis? Give an example.

A

Signals come externally from nervous or endocrine system. Blood glucose regulation is an example.

Define the receptor, control, and effector.

A

Receptor: Sensor to detect change or stimulus

Control: Processes information and sends commands

Effector: Responds to the command to make the change

What is negative feedback loop?

A

The way in which the body maintains homeostasis. When normal value is lost, body initiates change. Example would be becoming cold and correcting that to warm up body.
