Casting”
refers to performing the spellwork, closing the circle of protection, and observing the results. The specific steps of crafting and casting vary among traditions.
When you craft, you must first
dedicate a location for your spell and clear the area of unwanted old or negative energies. Many witches create a permanent altar or designate a sacred space specifically for their spellwork.
Step 2
you must cast a circle of protection to protect yourself from unwanted attention or outside influences. There are many methods to casting a circle. In traditional witchcraft, one might call upon a god or goddess, and a secular witch would likely call upon a significant object infused with natural energy or create a wall of their own energy (significant objects are discussed further
Once you’re inside your circle of protection, you’ll draw from
one or more energy sources to fuel your spell. This energy might come from a god or goddess, from a natural object like a crystal or talisman, or from yourself.
After your spell is complete, you must
withdraw the energy from the spell to close your circle of protection. How you close the circle should mirror the method you used to cast it in the first place.
