Define reproduction
Make more organisms or living things. Formation of new individuals
Why do all living things reproduce?
To make more individuals of the same type or species.
Why is it essential to reproduce?
The animals do not become extinct
Define extinct
Species has died out completely and there are no living member left
What does reproduction ensure?
Continuation or survival of species
What are the two ways of reproduction?
- Asexual
- Sexual
What is asexual reproduction?
Without the use of sex cells
How do you know that it is sexual reproduction?
Has to have two parents
What are male reproductive organs?
Penis, sperm duct, testes, scrotum, urethra
What is the functions of the male reproductive system?
- Make and store sperm
- Place sperm in female
- Secrete sex hormones
What is the function of the penis?
Place sperm inside female
What happens when the penis is erect?
Penis is swollen and extra blood is pumped - releases semen in penis
Define ejaculation
rapid release of semen from penis
What is the sperm duct also known as?
Vas deferents
What is the sperm duct?
Tube that carries semen from testes to penis
What does the testes produce?
Sperm and make sex hormone
What is the male sex hormone?
Testosterone
Define sex hormone
Chemical that carries messages in the body
Where is the testes found?
Outside of body in scrotum
What is the scrotum?
Bag of skin that holds the testes outside of the body
Why is the scrofula outside of the body?
Keep the balls at a temperature, that is slightly cooler than the body temperature
Why is the scornful suitable for the balls?
Suitable for making sperm - lower than 36°
What is the urethra?
Tube that carries semen and urine
Does the urethra carry semen and urine at the same time?
Never at the same time
