Q

Where is the Greater Tubercle Located?

A

Inferior and lateral to the acromion.
Shaped like a low mound.
Attachment site for three of the four rotator cuff muscles - supraspinatus, infraspinatus and teres minor.

1
Q

Where is the Deltoid Tuberosity Located?

A

On the lateral side of the mid-humeral shaft.
Is a small, low bump.
Attachment site for the converging fibers of the deltoid muscle.

2
Q

Where is the Lesser Tubercle Located?

A

Inferior and lateral to the acromion, but smaller than the Greater tubercle.
“bump-ditch-bump” sequence as the three landmarks pass beneath your thumb (Greater Tubercle- Intertubercular Groove- Lesser Tubercle)

3
Q

Where is the Intertubercular (bicipital) Groove Located?

A

Situated between the Greater and Lesser Tubercles.
Roughly a pencil’s width in diameter.
BE GENTLE WHEN PALPATING THIS REGION!

4
Q

Where is the Olecranon Process Located?

A

(elbow) Located on the proximal end of the Ulna and articulates with the distal humerus.
Forms the “point” of the elbow.

5
Q

Where is the Olecranon Fossae Located?

A

Deep to the triceps brachii tendon, only partially accessable.
Large cavity on the posterior distal end of the humerus.

6
Q

Where are the Humeral Epicondyles?

A

Directly medial from the olecranon process is the MEDIAL EPICONDYLE. It is superficial and has a protruding, spherical shape to accommodate the tendons of the wrist and finger flexors.
The LATERAL EPICONDYLE is smaller than its medial counterpart and is located lateral to the olecranon process.

7
Q

Where are the Humeral Supracondylar Ridges?

A

These two ridges extend proximally from the respective epicondyles of the humerus.
Lateral Supracondylar Ridge is locater superficially, while the Medial Ridge sinks into the arm and is situated close to the Ulnar Nerve.
